Makeup Looks for Rakhi – A Professional’s Guide

Raksha Bandhan is almost here! Although in between all your preparations and visits to family during this time, don’t forget to look a million dollar with the perfect makeup! In my previous post we curated few beautiful Rakhi outfits, but is that all for an Indian festival so special? Absolutely not, as they say makeup looks can complete any attire.

Makeup is the Finishing Touch, the Final Accessory.

A young professional makeup artist is spilling her secrets here people, so listen up! Makeup artist, Ms. Amruta Pawar has worked with fbb Colors Femina Miss India-2019, various web-series, bollywood actresses, fashion clients and brides from India. One surely can’t be heading to the salon during these festive seasons. Therefore we invited her to sway her magical brush on me, hoping to inspire our readers out there.

Check out Amruta’s top 6 paramount aspects for a festive day makeup that you ladies can master right before Raksha Bandhan!

POP OUT THOSE ALMOND EYES

We don’t even have to tell you that subtle eyes are in if you go for bold lips. Opt for winged eyeliner for there’s nothing more sultry than alluring eyes on a bright happy day. Psst. . don’t forget to complete the look with a touch of black mascara!

GET TO THE BASE

Right after the eye makeup, she started with a foundation (that matched my skin tone exactly) over my face and neck to get an even tone. Conceal your dark circles, blemishes or spots with a concealer. Make sure to blend it well using a blender. Set the base with some powder to avoid creasing.

BLUSH ON WITH PINK CHEEKS

To add a pop of color to your cheeks, dab a little blush on the apples of your cheeks. Use a highlighter on the bridge of your nose and cheekbones. A slight contouring is good but anything that’s excess can make you look too made up.

LET YOUR LIPS DO THE TALKING

Firstly, she has used a red lip liner to outline my lips. Like we decided to go subtle on the eyes and bolder on the lips, we chose maroon lipstick that also matched my dupatta!

KEEP YOUR BROWS ON POINT

Using an eyebrow pencil, she filled in the gaps in between my eyebrows. Before that remember to tame them lightly with a brow brush. Although she was insisting on keeping them natural, it was my urge to make them slightly darker! 🙈 This will help you define the arch and give you a nice sharp look.

BINDI IS SO INDIE

Finally, Amruta suggests pairing this look with bold red lips and a dainty red bindi. A petite bindi makes its presence felt by lending an unexplained charm to any woman. Check out our beautiful post on bindi.

Well, now that the secrets are out, maybe you’ll be able to recreate the same magic that the makeup artists do. And don’t worry if you’re not able to get it all right on the very first try. Magic and makeup, like all forms of art, can only be perfected through practice.

Happy Raksha Bandhan ladies! ❤️
