Studies, projects and examinations do not give you a moment to spare for regular parlor visits. Busy moms may have forgotten all about taking a little time out to pamper themselves with a facial. Does this sound familiar?
Well, even we over-burdened students and sleep deprived moms need a break once in a while and these quick and easy home facepacks will give you the few minutes of “me time” that you need to de-stress.
The recipes are based out of ingredients that are easily available in most homes. Few points to remember –
- Apply all the packs onto freshly cleansed skin.
- Avoid using soap/facewash immediately after using the pack.
- The recommended usage of all these packs is no more than 2-3 times a week.
- If you observe any adverse reaction (especially those with sensitive skin), wash off immediately and refrain from using the pack again.
1. Oatmeal curd face pack
Oatmeal cleanses, nourishes and also heals the skin. It possesses rich anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Curd is full of healthy bacteria which nourishes skin and is suitable for all types of skin.
2. Urad dal lemon facepack
Urad dal (black gram) does wonders for our skin and helps in making it flawless. It also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Lemons are antibacterial and help treat acne. Its rich vitamin C content and citric acid help to lighten spots and scars. Rice powder has anti-aging, oil absorbing and skin whitening properties
3. Multani Mitti rosewater facepack
Multani Mitti (fuller’s earth) is very absorbent and is especially beneficial for people with oily and pimple prone skin. It is easily available in shops or even online. Keep a pack at home for a quick facepack whenever required. Rosewater is an excellent skin toner and has excellent anti-inflammatory properties.
Caution: Overuse of Multani Mitti can dehydrate the skin. So it is not advisable to use this pack more than twice a week. It also acts as a coolant so those with respiratory problems can avoid using this pack .
4. Aloe Vera banana facepack
Aloe Vera has antimicrobial properties and is a natural antioxidant. It hydrates, exfoliates and retains your skin’s firmness. The fat content of bananas hydrates and moisturizes skin, reducing dry patches and flakiness. It also improves your skin’s elasticity.
Tip: Grow an aloe vera plant at home to get fresh pure gel whenever required. It is a very low maintenance plant and can survive without water for days, even weeks. There are many uses for aloe vera gel including hair care and for soothing minor burns.
5. Egg white facemask
Egg white is rich in albumin and nutrients, and is an excellent skin toner. It helps to tighten the skin and shrink open pores.
I especially love the above tip (passed on to me by my sister, who heard it from a friend), because it ensures that I get at least one facemask done every week whenever I cook eggs!
